Thad,
I think I was raised a lot like you....conservative and still look the same today. However, have you noticed the Apostolic young people today? I was at an Apostolic basketball tournament over the weekend and was amazed at the teenage girls in T-I-G-H-T skirts just above the knee, lowwwww t-shirts (also skin tight), hair that goes in a perfect straight line across the bottom, pancake makeup, etc.

It just saddened me because it seems each generation lets up a little bit more. Not that I'm wanting our kids to look like "Little House on the Prairie", but I wonder if we're a dying breed. Can we not be stylish and modern without looking slutty? To be honest, most of these girls would look like any other girl at the mall.

Sorry, I though I had hit reply to her post.

Who were you on the other sites? Or are you trying to remain a secret? I just don't recognize your screen name.

we are a dying breed because it's not in their hearts.
of course for those who didn't have it in their hearts in our time
God has weeded them out. but he also will weed out the folk who only have the outward shell right but wicked in their hearts. he will have a church

and i just try to remember this is God's church. He knows what's going on and he's in charge. there is nothing we can do to change this generation but have a revival

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum on every forum I've participated in.

I've had the same name...I just don't post much. Most of the people I know on here were from my old JCM days.

I usually don't have much time to get online: I'm principal of an ABeka school, husband is minister of music and I play keyboard, we recently gave up youth department due to not enough time to devote to each department.

These forums are my only way of keeping up on the latest news.

Just out of curiosity, were you raised to dress up for church? My dad's mantra was that if you take the time to dress up for a date, you'd BETTER put more thought into visiting God's house.

Maybe it's just here where I live, but it is like pulling teeth to get the young people to come to church in something besides jeans and t-shirts. Then again, I look at the parents and realize where it's coming from.

I remember ten years ago men wore suits and women dressed up....and the young people actually put some effort into how they looked for church. Now it's only those on the platform who dress up.

I'm NOOOOT trying to get a discussion started on how our church services should not be fashion show. We all know that. I'm just referring to people who dress up more when they go out to eat than they do for church.
