Re: Did Jesus dance ?
I believe He danced and rejoiced; it was a part of His culture.

Re: Did Jesus dance ?
The interesting question for me is, did he ever dance to have "fun"? Or was it always as a form of worship?
That is right up there with:
Did He ever laugh at a joke?
Did He ever tell a joke?
Did He ever play tag or hide and seek with other kids? Or his parents?
Did He ever belly laugh as a baby or toddler when his mother went "PEEK.... a boo!"?
Did He drink any of the wine that He made at the wedding?

Re: Did Jesus dance ?
My answer to my class:
Jesus was Jewish and born under the law thus he celebrated the feasts and we know he went to the wedding where he changed water to wine...The feasts were times of dancing and so were Jewish weddings...it was a part of their culture in that day and even a part of their culture today...Yes I believed he danced...not some made up dance but the dances that fit into their culture.

Re: Did Jesus dance ?
Rabbi Eleasar said,
Some day the Holy One, blessed be He, will give a dance to the righteous, and He will sit among them in the garden of Eden, and each one will point his finger at him saying, as it is written, 'Lo, this is our God, we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord, we have waited for him, let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation' (Jewish Encyclopedia Vol. 4, p 426).
The Rabbi quotes from Isa.25.6-8. In his view, for God to make a feast is for God to make a dance, because the Hebrew word for feast, machol, is to circle or dance.

Re: Did Jesus dance ?
If I remember my history right it was the catholic church that took dancing OUT of the church...

Jews, for thousands of years, have celebrated the goodness of God in their cultural dance and still do today.

beautiful...I love it...
While I am not against dancing in the spirit(our Pentecostal term) I think there are many things we can learn from our Jewish messiah...

His Father, God.

Joelel Hi, I do read your postings on other threads and find you to be quite interesting..Sometimes maybe a little too blunt but interesting...
Joelel, I am a oneness believer and I believe Jesus was both God and man...However I am not a Bible teacher so I will leave that part to those that are. However I believe he danced as man...as flesh..The same way he ate, he drank, he suffered...
Jesus was our example...that was why he was baptized and why he prayed...he was a fleshly man...the Word became flesh and dwelt among us...
