Chris, I have listened to NPR. All I get is the very clear understanding that that bunch of psudo-intelectuals really do believe they are smarter than the rest of us. I dont like being pandered to. I dont like being talked to like I'm a three year old that just doesnt know anybetter.
Ive listened to Keith Oberman. Now here is an enlightened individual. all I hear when his lips start slapping is blah blah blah. When that dude was born, they injected his head with the detridus of a dead dodo bird and called it brains! talk about an idiot.
At least when Rush says something over the top you know he is trying to be funny. Oberman actully thinks he is making a contribution.
Have I heard non-conservitive media? of course. and it reinforces my belief that these people are paternalistic socialists that really believe they can direct my life better than me.
It also reinforces my beleif that the people that fall for their insanity do so because they really think the governemnt owes them and they have abdicated all responsiblility for themselves!
Beware when men flatter you. Especially right wing media. All the deception cloaked in flag waving. "You're a great 'merican!" Yeah....uh huh.
I think insecure people don't like NPR because the individuals truly are intelligent and trying to share information you most likely don't know...if you only listen to television news or talk radio. Give me something intelligent. On talk radio I hear politicians talk about Iraq, and soliders talk about Iraq, military leaders talk about Iraq. Here's the problem...most of their careers depend upon saying, "Everything's fine and dandy." Oh, but NPR has reporters ON THE GROUND, reporting from inside Iraq, interviewing contractors, civilians, and Iraqi officials. You get to walk with them through people's homes and talk about this over their kitchen tables. Rush and Sean get paid propagandists and politicians who are rarely in tune with the "on the ground" reality. I was a medic in the US Army. I know that the last thing you can trust is a soldier who's in "the mode" and under orders. Then they pontificate on news stories from those on the ground suposedly revealing inconsistancies from their cushy chairs from their ivory palaces. Ah...the only thing Rush has had aimed at him is his golden microphone. I say Rush and Sean should get a group of families from a radomly selected Iraqi neighborhood and hold an open discussion where the Iraqis can tell how life really is in their country and what they really think about American presence.
Rush and Sean are PHONIES. I call them..."The Filters" because most conservatives I know gets all their information filtered through them.

Even before video clips from his sermons ignited a national controversy, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor, was a much sought-after speaker with a national reputation.
"Jeremiah has been a model for many preachers around the country (for) preaching and pastoring," said the Rev. Daryl Ward, senior pastor at Omega Baptist Church in Dayton. Ward was a top administrator at the United Theological Seminary in Dayton when Wright, 66, received his doctor of ministry degree there in 1990.
Wright, who retired last month as pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, recently canceled a number of speaking engagements, including three services at a Houston church on Sunday. He cited security concerns, including the safety of his family.
A former Marine and Navy hospital corpsman, Wright is known for "his fiery orations and his passion," said Leonard Sweet, a theologian and author who was president of United Theological Seminary the year Wright graduated.
The Rev. Mike Slaughter, pastor of Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, has compared Wright to the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. "Jeremiah was the 'angry' prophet who prophesized the demise of his own nation for forsaking God, the Torah and turning to idolatry," Slaughter, who studied at United Theological Seminary with Wright, wrote on his blog.
Obama, who was married by Wright and whose children were baptized by the minister, said in his speech on race last week that some of Wright's comments "expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country" and had been "divisive" and "racially charged." At the same time, Obama said he would not disown the minister.
The speech didn't stop criticism of Obama for his 20-year association with Wright. A number of conservative commentators blistered the Democratic front-runner for not taking Wright to task earlier and more forcefully. And Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's opponent for the Democratic presidential nomination, criticized Obama on Tuesday, March 25, for not leaving Wright's church.
John McClelland, spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party, said judgment, not religion, is the issue. "Sen. Obama has associated himself with an individual who has preached or promoted anti-American rhetoric. You can't just make one speech and expect 20 years of association to go away," he said.
Sweet said it's important to honor freedom of the pulpit.
"Just because you heard a sermon you didn't like, you don't come away and say 'I'm going to leave because I didn't like that sermon,'" he said.

You need to read a dictionary. Bill Kristol (a leading conservative policy wonk and commentator) has even indicated that the problem is that the Republicans aren’t populist enough. They’re terming the effort to move towards a new populism appealing to “Wal-Mart Republicans” as opposed to focusing on “Wall Street Republicans”. He made the point that if they loose, “Wal-Mart Republicans”…they can’t win. They need to find a new populism, right now they are aristocrats.

Yeah, that's wrong. I don't believe in plea bargains. That gives them an option to get out sooner for the crime they committed.
But you know, if I were them, I'd take the plea bargain too, knowing what I was facing!!!
A disproportionate number of folks are pressured into plea bargains before or without receiving sufficient legal counsel.
You’re assuming they’re all guilty without admitting that a disproportionate number are incarcerated after plea bargains who are actually innocent or only guilty of lesser charges.
I also find it interesting that your assuming they are guilty off the bat. In America all citizens are innocent until PROVEN guilty. Pleas don’t prove guilt. They only demonstrate that the accused feels no other recourse than to accept charges and negotiate their sentence.
I keep forgetting…in your conservative little world this isn’t an issue to worry about. Of course…if you were black…it would be a different story. Most black Americans in the system take the plea bargain because they’re afraid they don’t stand a chance in a white justice system.
