We see this happening over and over throughout threads and can be the break down many times of the thread.
Can it be fixed?

Only if people start reading what is written instead of what they think is written.

Re: How Do You Fix This?
The trouble is, sometimes it is deliberate. It happened several times today.
It's an old debate tactic.
Schopenhauer wrote about it.

What are you implying here????????
You're saying I'm the breakdown of every thread......oh wait, never mind.

Actually, I think a large part of it is inherent in the nature of text-based discussions. I have seen this happen in every forum I have ever read, whether Christian, secular, music related, you name it.

Seriously, I had a good lesson recently from another poster.
Sometimes its difficult to read the tone of a person's post, even with smilies. Sometimes things that are meant to be TIC are taken seriously, or sometimes a word is left out, which is a simply typo, but can totally change the way a post reads.
I assumed a poster on this forum meant one thing, and I challenged them on it.
Their response to me, after the dust settled, was "Why didn't you ask me to clarify my statement before you assumed".
And you know what? She was 100% correct.
Maybe if when we read something that doesn't sit well with us, before we respond we should ask the other person, "THis is how I'm reading this, is this what you really mean??"

True, the text doesn't display emotions very well

And then of course, some people just loooove to argue, and will take any opportunity to do so...
