Time for another 1Cor 11 discussion!

So the question now is 1 Cor. 11:16, and I would really appreciate the insight of anyone that has studied out the headship/hair/headcovering matter.
1 Cor. 11 speaks of GOD being the head of Christ, Christ being the head of man, and man the head of the woman. Paul then says a man should not cover his head when praying or prophesying, but that a woman should have her head covered. Paul then goes on to write that it is a glory given to a woman if she has long hair, and that if a man keeps his hair long, he shames his head...
THEN at verse 16 Paul writes (KJV):
16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

What is he saying? Is he saying, "But hey, if you're all going to argue about it, forget about all that headcovering and hair stuff I was talking about, we really don't have a custom concerning these things." OR is he writing, "If you want to argue about it, forget it, this is what we teach in the churches of GOD, so get in line!"

I'm sort of going back and forth on this... other translations, like the New Living say,
"But if anyone wants to argue about this, I simply say that we have no other custom than this, and neither do God’s other churches."

The New American Standard Version says,
"But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God."

The Message (if anyone cares) says,
"I hope you're not going to be argumentative about this. All God's churches see it this way; I don't want you standing out as an exception."

So there's a few other translations. I looked up EVERY English translation on biblegateway, which was only about 20 or so, but I didn't want to bore you all with posting all of those verse interpretations.

Anyone want to provide any insight on this verse?

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

Re: Time for another 1Cor 11 discussion!

Over 15 views and nothing?! I was expecting 16 posts from 15 views! lol, no, but seriously, I know v. 16 isn't as exciting about talking about hair having power to heal the sick, but v. 16 is still there and could use some study time. I could also use the help to decipher it's meaning. If anyone wants to help, I'd be much obliged.

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

I think a lot of us are kinda burned out at tackling controversial issues, Bro. It's been a very busy few days here at AFF.

I am too busy being converted to Branhamism!

I am thinking of going out and buying an old reel to reel tape recorder so I can really get the full benefit of his many sermons. I mean how many chances do you get to hear the actual voice of THE prophet of the seventh church age?
