Because, that's the way I was taught too, but it really doesn't make sense.
Who defines jewelry as "anything other than..........etc"?
The Bible certainly makes no such distinction.
I get a bit confused on our unwritten rules sometimes, lol..........
Seriously Michael, you really can't go by me on the jewelry thing, cause I love jewelry. To me even though all of those pics that PP posted were kind of over the top for me, they are just what they are.
I can't wear earrings anymore, I do have my Mother's Necklace instead of a Mother's ring, my wedding set, which some consider over the top. I don't wear as much jewelry as I use to but not because anyone said I couldn't. It was just my former job made it impractical to do it.
To me a wedding ring set is a symbol of marriage vows, my question is why do some think it should just be plain? God made silver, gold, and diamonds etc. Why would he not want us to use them?

LOL! the preaher posts scripture without commentary and we get 11 pages.... cuz the scripture in question says take off the jewlery.
I love it!
Sorry, Ferdinand, the scripture the preacher posted didn't say take off jewelry. It said "ornaments', which is defined as "trappings".
My question is, how does he define trappings?
Sounds to me like it could be a fancy necktie, a watch, a belt, etc.

You hang ornaments on a Christmas tree, so we know Rico is safe.

Ex 33:1-6
And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
5 For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

So, based on this, should we remove all articles of dress, finery, or outfits, along with our thin flat strips of flexible material?
