Where in my above posts did you see me say secular (vs Christian or gospel or "sacred") music was all bad?
Sometimes I wonder if some of you are even reading what is written or just assuming what is meant because you know someone is more conservative.
Are you more conservative? That would explain the response.
Relax it wasn't personal. My son and I were at a game not too long ago and he looked at me and said, "Dad, why would they even play that song?" Needless to say it wouldn't be allowed on his ipod.
So it wasn't a shot at you it just jogged a memory that's all.

Well then, my bad. I did assume you were taking a shot.

Well, if they are playing Kawliga, I don't think it's a good idea!!
Nice!!!
You know the first time I heard that song was at the church on Wilson rd. we were having one of those dress up like cowboys things for Sunday school, and somebody was playing that on the guitar and singing it out on the playground.

I started this thread because my "lady friend", who was raised Baptist (not SBC), does not think it is important to "seek the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues." We have been together for awhile now. She attended a Pentecostal church for 2 yrs and has not spoken in tongues and does not think she "needs" that experience. I don't believe one has to speak in tongues to be saved, but sure would want my future wife to have shared that experience. She knows of gospel artists, but owns only secular R&B cd's. Furthermore, there are other things that make me think she has not been changed by Christ on the inside-- but I have faults too. I really want to move our relationship forward, but I'm afraid.
Yesterday, after I expressed concern about our relationship, she cried and asked, "What more do I have to do to show I love you?" It really shook me up.

This sounds like a dangerous situation. Not just because of being Baptist either. Paul says they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh and they that mind the things of the Spirit are after the Spirit.
Dont look at it like "But I have faults too". Look at it like "Im going to get closer to Jesus very soon". When you do you will want a woman who DOES regard Christian music and Christian everything.
Once you are married its to late to change your mind.
yeah I broke up with her. it was painful and I had tears as I walked out her door. I miss her even right now, just missing having her a part of my life.

I am sorry for you loss. I know someone that has, and has been having this problem. Yet she is still blind to being unequally yoked with unbelievers. It is a hard struggle being pulled in two directions. Will be praying for you brother. May God grant you peace in this situation.
