Libs and Cons

If you can only be Apostolic if you are Very Conservative and have the exact same standards and beliefs according to some of those here, why then even designate some as Liberals, Mods and Cons as though there are liberal, moderate and conservative Apostolics?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

One of the most divisive things man has ever created are labels.

We consider lots of churches apostolic with different standards. Now doctrinal issue, that’s the dividing line.

Re: AFF apostolic or not?

You guys are cracking me up with all your hilarious insults, while at the same time calling me out for mine. You guys are too funny. I can't respond to all 4 or 5 of you, I would never catch up. You would think of something else ignorant before I got finished with your last ignorant statement.

You won't find ....thou shalt not drink jack daniels in your Bible, but the principle is there.

You won't find ....thou shalt not smoke pot, but the principle is there.
You won't find .....thou shalt not look at penthouse, but the principle is there.

But we would probably agree that these things are sin. (maybe)

Guess what? I don't have a scripture that says, ...thou shalt not watch television. But the principle is there. ..set no wicked thing before thine eye...

I could go on but you get the point, (maybe)

I must have hit a little too close to home for some of you to bear. You checked my IP address? Wow, I am further under your skin than what I thought. You guys are beating your head against the wall trying to get me on something. You can't prop up your arguments so you try to find out who I am the re-incarnation of. Keep searching, it is good therapy for you guys that are really troubled by my convictions and are masking it with jokes and insults to one another just to make you feel better.

Might not jump back in on this one. All 5 of you are just now getting up but the referee has counted to 80 and I am leaving the ring. C-ya on another thread.

(No guarantees. lol)

You think more highly of yourself than you should, NITW. There have been more than one instance of regular posters creating a different screen name and personality to go with it, just to have a little fun. One of the ways to see if this is what's going on is to check the IP addy of the person posting.

No problem, I don't have enough interest in what you have to say to engage in too much discussion with you.

BUt, I do have one question - what's your principle for men not wearing shorts?

Brother, there is a serious flaw in your argument.
You say the Bible doesn't speak specifically against TV, but you say "the principle is there", which I suppose makes it clear to you in your mind that TV watching is a sin. OK.

You cite Psalm 101:3 as the foundational scripture that lays down that principle: "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes"

But if you say that Psalm 101:3 means no TV watching, someone can use the same argument and same scripture against the Internet, and claim "the principle is there" since in their view, the internet contains wickedness, just like TV (or even more so than TV).

But many of the same arguments you might personally use to say using the Internet is not [necessarily] sinful, are some of the same arguments someone else could use to say that watching TV is not [necessarily] sinful.

Keep in mind, brother , that there are always going to be Apostolics who are more hardcore conservative than you are, and who can always find something you do and tell you its a sin. When they cant find specific scripture for it, they can quote a bible verse to "prove" to you that "the principle is there".

The fact is, we can always find a scripture that shows that [insert personal conviction here] is wrong, and that [insert scripture here] clearly shows in principle that doing so-and-so is wrong. In fact, as you may already know, there are preachers this very day who preach/teach that using the Internet for non-business use is a sin!

You see brother, every one of us has someone to the right of us who can look at our life and tell us we're too liberal for them, that we're semi-backslidden, compromisers, etc.

So maybe its better to leave some things between the individual and God, and not be judgmental about certain things. God does allow for personal conviction on some matters. Paul expounds on this principle very clearly in 1 Cor 8. You may wish to go back and take a look at that and see what Paul was saying there.

I leave you with Romans 14:4
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Peace to you.
