Re: Are We Hurting the Heart of God?

Great words, Cindy. I think when we talk about our brothers and sisters in the Lord, we are actually hurting the Lord. After all, we ARE His body.

I agree fully no one should be putting someone down. However hopefully Christian doctrine and practice being presented and discussed is not what is being rebuked?

I hope not.

THIS is what actually makes me angry when things of a legalistic nature are discussed. In the grand scheme of things, rules and regulations can at most, do a little good, and at worst, ........ someone to hell because of the unnecessary stumbling blocks created.

The line people used to use was "what would Jesus do?". While that is still a good question to ask, another could be "will this edify my brother?". Ask this of someone you are even in a heated argument with! Sometimes there are things that NEED to be said, but are you saying it in a way that shows love?
Jesus said things that made the religious types furious! In the culture of the day, it could even be said that he attacked their "characters" and called them names! But I am apt to give Him a pass since -after all, He IS God. The greatest commandment(s) to US is to love the Lord and our brothers as our selves.

And.... just as you should never go to bed angry at your wife (or husband), a good exercise should be to NEVER go to bed mad any any other member of this forum!

But we see some come and go because deep down someone hurt them, just to make a point. And we must be right or fight to the death in defense of our opinons. If some of y'all talked to one of my kids the way you talk to each other, I would really be angry and hurt.

So imagine how God feels when we talk about each other, and treat each other with disrespect. We are after all His children. I have seen people I have come to respect and feel like they are family treated worse than some of us would treat a dog. And I have felt the sting of unkind words myself.

So I will tell those of you who think it's funny or cute to zing someone, think about who you are offending. One or more of God's children. And those of you that are parents know, if you hurt my kids I hurt too. I do understand in the heat of battle defending our brother or sister, but in the process are we offending another brother or sister? If we are then we are hurting OUR Father.

I don't know if anyone cares or not, but this is how I feel. Maybe this should be in the blog section or whatever.

And if I have hurt or offended anyone, please tell me openly on the forum and I will apologize. Because I don't want to hurt our Father's heart.
I've seen a few good discussions on theological issues but for the most part people are civil.

But the real problem is with politics. I constantly hear people call people "baby killer", "murderer", "abominable", "communist", "socialist", etc. etc. etc. It goes the other way too....

I think that a large degree of all of this could be reduced if we boycotted political discussions and just meditated and discussed views, opinions, and possibilities in the Word of God.
