Perhaps the idea is judging a matter without knowing all of the details?
That's why I like what Jesus taught in Matt 18 about offenses...
- Go to him first alone
- If he will not hear thee, take one or two others and then go to him so that in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses every word may be established
- If he still won't hear thee, bring it before the whole church
- If he won't hear the church, ...

I thought about going and asking him why he was such a jerk in those situations but then I realized he is dead.
I don't care how he felt about those pastors he had a responsibility to act in a Christian and correct manner. Whatever they had done that was wrong, arrogant, or whatever was no excuse for his behaviour.

I was not in the meeting in Austin or in Ft. Worth so I did not observe what you did. I am sorry to hear that, I do believe MH and KP were very badly handled during those days.

sad when men think they are God and out to destroy those who differ from them. (No offense to anyone intended) however I have seen those that thought their decision was God´s decision...

Being closely 'related' to the situation I think I can say that it was not as cut-n-dry as it may seem. There were some on the organization's side that really were conflicted over this. While the person I'm familiar with was no fan of MH he agonized over KP. At least for him this was not a matter of politics alone.

No doubt there were conflicting emotions and thoughts all over the place. KP and MH were two of the most successful evangelists and pastors in the UPC at the time and thus were both admired by some, envied by some, and a combination of both by some.
Some hated to see one or both leave and others were eager to hold the door open for them and didn't care if it hit them in the butt on their way out.
My only point is that no matter the situation all involved are responsible for acting in a Christian like manner in whatever part they might play in the situation. Especially Elders.
In the 60's and 70's many times persons in power were more like a bull in a china closet. It was a very political atmosphere.

Any time voting for office plays a part there is always politics involved no matter how pure and holy some claim to be...Politics is the real reason of many splits...
