Re: Abortion, Where Do You Stand?

This is tough for me. I voted it is a womens right. I DO think it is sin!!!! I am going under the assumtion that by voting "a womens right" that also means a "womens right to choose." I think it is the WRONG choice and IS SIN, but it still is infact their right to choose at least here in America it is.

I AM NOT FOR ABORTION FOR ANY REASON. Just wanted to make it clear why I voted the way I did. I look at it like if anyone of any gender commited a murder it would be by thier choice to do it so that is why I chose my answer the way I did.

My understanding is.. 12-24 hrs. after conception there is a drop of blood in that human life. Anything that assists in keeping that human life from going on to maturity is.. for lack of a better word, a murder.

We need to be sensitive towards the issue. Most women who have had abortions are guilt ridden and do not need to be called out and out murderers.

This subject hits home to me big time. I hate abortion. And would never vote for anyone who advocates it. That would make me guilty of supporting it.

For those not familiar with it - an ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fetus is implanted and develops within the fallopian tubes. Once the size of the baby is great than the diameter of the tube - well, both mother and baby die. The only way to save the mother is to terminate the pregnancy.

It's rather hard for a caregiver to break such sad news to an expectant mother. Things just get worse when you call the mother a "murderer." Or imagine turning to the father and saying, "I need you to sign the execution order so that the hospital isn't responsible for the murder of your child - you must accept responsibility for this murder!"

The father then responds, "What if I don't sign...?" The answer is shouted back - "Then you've murdered both mother and baby, you callow swine! Hell's too good for you!"

The mother faints to the floor, her body convulses occasionally with sobs. "So what's it gonna be, Killer?" the doctor demands of the father. "Do we snuff the dame and the baby or just the baby?"

I would prefer to avoid such an upsetting conflict, especially in a public place like a hospital.

VBs bias is showing in the choices he offered us in this poll. He conveniently left out the one for those of us who believe abortion is wrong, but do not believe we have the right to force our religious beliefs on others. It's a bogus poll.

Re: Abortion, Where Do You Stand?

I agree that the poll is too narrow. I think abortion as a form of birth control is reprehensible. However, as pelathais has stated, there are circumstances where I think it is definitely the woman's choice and she and her husband should make a decision prayerfully. There are severe birth defects that are incompatible with life, other severe conditions where the baby might live, but could require round the clock care for life. Yes, God can heal, but doesn't always, and I would never judge someone else for a decision to terminate a pregnancy in those circumstances.

I had an ectopic pregnancy 20 years ago. I have never felt any condemnation or felt that I murdered the baby. It was a necessary thing if I wanted to live.

Very good post. You are right. I guess I should have been more clear.

I am speaking of those who have abortions simply for convenience.

Also, Brother Rutledge you make a very good point. I know women who have had abortions in their past. They have repented and God has forgiven them. Sadly, many of them continue to live with the guilt of a bad choice.

Re: Abortion, Where Do You Stand?

people make their choices when they choose to have unprotected sex. Abortion is not an option, nor should it be a fix for mistakes.

any other scenario, well, it's not the fault of the unborn child and you have to trust God

Abortion is MURDER

That about sums it up for me. Making it illegal would do very little to curb the problem, IMO. I abhor the idea of abortion, would do everything in my power to discourage a woman from having one, but making it ultimately her decision instead of the government's decision in no way shows my support of abortion.

Education and personal attention beats legislation every time. Taking it out of the hands of the federal government is a very Republican concept - not sure why people don't understand this perspective.
