I wouldn't want anyone to change out of peer pressure or being forced on them. I like to see folks change from a divine revelation epiphany and enlightenment. That way, you know it's the real thing!

Right!
Except when the epiphany or divine revelation runs aground of the Gimme that old tyme Religion, it is considered a delusion...

I go back to point to the truth among most conservative apostolics, those who yearn for a return to the old path, traditional holiness, and the like, that change equals compromise, and every consideration becomes a slippery slope, i.e. A release of standards immediately leads to Trinitarian sympathyzers or a compromise of doctrine.
The fact of the matter is there is a realization that takes place when someone truly understands that the grace of God doesn't dictate that adhering to religious tradition and culture is necessary for salvation...or even Christian conduct. Christian conduct should be a choice. Go ahead and say those who embrace standards have a choice, and I will tell you that most of them only have one option to select.
Could it be that Apostolics are so afraid of the world and they don't have sufficient confidence in their experience to be able to function among the hairy unwashed without these walls of so called separation
|
Christian conduct isn't necessary for salvation? What is holiness but a separation from sin. If we don't conduct ourselves in a Christlike manner then we are necessarily conducting ourselves in a sinful manner. Without holiness no man shall see the Lord.

This is a big reason I'm leaving the UPC. I see what it's doing to my daughter, who feels that what she looks like is more important than how she shows respect to her mother.

??? Your joking right? So your daughter(I am assuming still in the house under your authority) has certain convictions yet they drain you because you don't agree with them. So now the mentors are bad and so is the daughter because she doesn't think you stand for the right things because of her convictions. WOW! Thus because it's against what you believe, you want to isolate or reprogram your daughter to your convictions basically or at least get her in a tolerance of what you believe. mmm mmmm mmmm Is your daughter young OR older? This would probably make more sense to me.
Also respect is a matter of context.

How does this apply to what DG said about leaving old time pentecost?
Is DG back in the house now that he has left old time pentecost?

Christian conduct is cleary essential for salvation. Otherwise you are following after the flesh and not after God's law through the leading of the Spirit. One leads to life the other to death.

I think she's so squarely on base she's standing on your foot, which is why you're yelping.
