Exactly - that's not the VP-elects job.
Yahoo article on McCain's speech tonight - "Mark Salter, McCain's closest adviser and top speechwriter, said the address will focus on specific policy proposals but would also shine a light on the promise of transforming Washington and asking which candidate was better suited to make good on that promise. It will also portray McCain as a selfless public servant who has repeatedly taken political risks and challenged his party when necessary, Salter said."

Re: Gov. Sarah Palin's acceptance speech
That was the greatest speech I think I've ever heard. Humor, poise, confidence, fantastic communicator............we were blown away! She is one tough cookie, but looks like a lady. Perfect for VP.

We were too. My husband thinks she is great.
My parents have voted for the democratic party as long as I can remember. Monday night I asked my mother what my dad would be doing right now if he were alive. She didn't hesitate when she said, "Vote for John McCain."
She even watched Sarah's entire speech last night, which was MAJOR for her. She is NOT into politics whatsoever. I was impressed that she was impressed!!

A lot of how this convention will play out for voters, is on John McCain now because he has to give specifics and details about how he's going to solve the issues the country is facing. It'll be interesting to hear the specifics and the direction he has in mind.

You are right, Mike. Palin has the base energized, but McCain will need to draw from the middle in order to win in November. It is a difficult line to walk because this country has been so divided by the media's constant railing on Bush and the current administration policies. If John goes too far he can lose the base, not far enough and he doesn't get the Reagan Democrats, it is a tough job.

Re: Gov. Sarah Palin's acceptance speech
Sarah's speech was filled with low blows and insults....it certainly got the geritol white republicans delegates all riled up. So much for diversity in the Republican party. It looked like a UPCI conference.
