I think it will be a LONG time before we see any "self replicating" nanobots. Nearly all of the complexity of the little guy will go directly toward making more of them, with nothing left over (or nearly nothing).
Think of a machine shop. What is the min required "machines" in the shop needed in order to manufacture everything present for the purpose of building an identical shop? Now think of doing this on a microscopic scale.
Organic matter is MUCH more efficient when it comes to replicating.

Exactly, hopefully not till a long time. The scary thing is if they were to go out of control they can keep on building and building and organic material would be their building blocks
