The Most Powerful Principle of Scripture

In a word, what do you feel is the most powerful principle of scripture and why?

I have two:

1) Faith. God is invisible so we must live and walk by faith.

2) We reap what we sow.

Re: The Most Powerful Principle of Scripture

1. Love -

Right now three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor. 13:13

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16

Mark 22:6

“[Jesus], which is the great commandment in the law?” And he said to him, ’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”

13"(A)Greater love has no one than this, that one (B)lay down his life for his friends. - John 15;13

------------------------

2. Forgiveness/Reconciliation -

2 Cor 5:18 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

(1) Romans 5
(2) 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
(3) Ephesians 2:16
(4) Colossians 1:20-22

In the OT this idea is most related to Atonement.

----------------------------------
3. Faith and Justification

Just shall live by faith. Hab. 2:4

  1. (Ephesians 2:8-9) - "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a result of works, that no one should boast."
  2. (Rom. 3:20,28) - "because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin...28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law."
  3. (Galatians 2:16) - "nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified."

----------------------------------

4. Law of the Harvest (Life vs. Death)

Galatians 6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

(Paul focuses on this principle in a postive light ...)

Believe.

Our very faith in God, and our continual walk with him, is based on believing in the existence, goodness, and faithfulness of a God we have never seen.

Trust... the root of Faith...

Proverbs 3....
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Many have said faith and it is a great answer; for without it, it is impossible to please God. I am also partial to Ecclesiastes 12:13 as it speaks to the crux of the matter.

Re: The Most Powerful Principle of Scripture

Loving God and loving each other is the greatest, and coming to know God, compared to which Paul counted all else but dung.

Jesus, Himself, told us to seek in priority above everything else, The Kingdom and God's righteousness.

Obedience

I Samuel 15:22

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Grace,To me is the most powerful because without the grace of God salvation is not possible.
But because of His great love for us,God,who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we where dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. EPHESIANS.2:4,5 TNIV

Re: The Most Powerful Principle of Scripture

To me, the most powerful principle of Scripture is, in fact, the Word itself. Every principle mentioned thus far are really important principles, but, they all come from where? The Word. Faith, Love, Grace, etc. are pieces of the puzzle... all are vital, but all are a part of the Word, and all are the Word. The Word framed the world, the Word became flesh, the Word is the source and basis of our doctrine and faith. Everything rests on and in the Word of God.

Faith falls flat when not anchored in God's Word. Love is empty apart from the Word. And grace is meaningless without the Word. Jesus said "...The Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are Life". Jhn 6:63
