TRFRance, they are asked if they OWN a television.
A man could honestly say he does not own one, and sign the affirmation statement, even though his wife or kids may own one in his home.
I love the way legalism always has loopholes.
Makes things so much more fun.

I quote, 2006 UPCI manaul, section under Ministry, Article VII, section 7, # 31 on page 49, "No minister having a television in his or her home shall be permitted to hold license or credentials with the United Pentecostal Church International. Furthermore, no United Pentecostal Church Internatinal minister shall be permitted to advertise or minister on television. This does not preclude unsolicited representatives of the news media coving functions."
The part in blue has changed. Now they can preach on tv nd advertise on tv but can not have a tv in their home.
A licensed UPCI minister can not have a tv in their HOME.
If I am wrong, please state section, article #, section #, page # and quote it.
This article states "No minister having a television."
It says nothing about his wife or kids.
What if he rents it? Does that mean he "has" a television?

I relize I may get blasted by many or ignored for starting this thread.
This thread is not about standards but about telling the truth.
If you are a licensed minister with the UPCI and have a televisonPLEASEexplain your stanch on it.
I do not have a current manual, but am aware of what is stated in the 2006 manual, Article VII, Section 7, #31, under Ministry.
As of 2007 the application for a license still had the question, do you have a televison?
How can one preach the truth yet live a lie?
Any licensed UPCI minister that allows tv. in their home, needs to turn in their license.

Yes, you could have a true monitor (without a TV tuner) and still receive television channels from a VCR (assuming the VCR has a built-in tuner, as most do), even though you only have the RCA cables hooked up between the television and the VCR... this was a trick we used many times growing up as preacher's kids to watch television even back in the 80's... usually the kids understand the technology better than the parents... and this especially applies today with computers and the internet... if you think your kids are locked out of things they shouldn't access on the internet because you paid $50.00 for some special software, you are most likely wrong.
What is this "VCR" that everyone keeps mentioning? Is it like a "Cassette tape"? Is this "VCR" something we need to ban?

Well, sonny, way back in the good old days, movies were recorded onto big magnetic tapes. These tapes were placed in big black cases and were "played" on a machine called a video tape player. You could watch the movie, rewind to see something you missed, fast forwrd past the boring parts and alot more.
Those were the good old days. Before that was something called reel to reel tapes. I can remember when reel tapes didn't have sound. That was way cool, 'cause you could make up your own dialog. But, all of that is far too complicated for your young mind.

In other words, video wasn't always in either an MPEG-2, Xvid, or H.264 (otherwise known as MPEG-4) format and you couldn't always get it over your computer, phone, or even photo picture frame on display in the family room?
The fact that we're even having this conversation is kinda sad and ridiculous to me.
