Newman's articles are how I originally found FCF, so yes, they did impact me. But the truth was that I was on the internet searching for information that was different than the usual party line about standards. If I had not found it at FCF, I would have found it elsewhere.
If anything, I do think the forums are largely responsible for my temporary return to the conservative side of the line. I honestly don't know if that would have happened had it not been for the time I spent at the forums.
And in a way, I also credit the forums for keeping me from rejecting Christianity completely during my darkest days, both between the friends who gave me encouragement and unconditional love, and the fact that I am stubborn enough that I was not going to prove the "leaving standards equals leaving God" crowd right.
