Brother Epley - I have a lot of respect for you - however, I think you are way off base in your assumption that my former pastor did not say what he told us he said at the meeting. I sat under him for almost 30 years. He always taught Acts 2:38 - repentance, baptism in Jesus Name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. I know some on this forum will say that he believes in "friends of the Bridegroom", "light doctrine" etc. etc - HOWEVER, in all those years I have never had reason to believe from his teachings that he thought the Holy Ghost anything but necessary.

NOW - having said that - I will say that he preaches and teaches what he believes (Act 2:38) but he leaves the judgement of a person's salvation up to God!

Epley, no one has ever accused Haney of being conservative. Since he got elected to the Papal Palace the UPCI has definently taken a severe liberal stance on many issues. On one hand you have the UPCI where everyone can be saved, on the other you have fellowships like the ACI where none can be saved but them. I think it is safe to remain moderate.

TJJJ,
I think you are a little off on your basis of that "everyone can be saved" view of the UPCI.

Of course they preach everyone and anyone can be saved, as long as they follow the traditional acts 2:38 preached plan. That is all I have heard from the vast majority of the UPC.

And none of those doctrines diminish the necessity and requirement to have the Holy Ghost for full salvation.

What I enjoyed about the Assembly of God church I attended through my Master's program was the fact they believed that when you repented and were baptized then you received the Holy Ghost. There was no "SEEKING". They all received it and spoke in tongues when they were ready. It was beautiful to see because they all received it and none of them "sought" at the altar for it.

I will state what I already stated in Charisma magazine when K. Haney was elected: Oneness Pentecostals may sit down at the table with you, but they will only do so with the intent to change you - not themselves.

Blessings, Rhoni
