So, two questions:
1.) When you made your original statement, were you thinking that the move of God in churches where they are unsaved and in false doctrine was real or counterfeit?
2.) How can one tell the difference?

That really depends upon whose eyes the definition is coming through. I'm not suggesting for a moment that I do not believe in absolute truth, I'm only making a statement that, in part, it depends on who you ask.

Re: FEAR FACTOR: Pentecostal/Apostolic Style
I think many things false look like the real thing. Take for instance, Coach Purses......there are fakes out there that look a lot like the real thing.
Satan has always put a little true with his lies.

I agree, there are a lot of fakes, but a child of God who is filled with the Holy Ghost should be able to tell the difference, wouldn't you think?
So, how does one tell the difference?

I agree 100% with you. The only way they can know is being sensitive to the Holy Ghost and knowing how to use the spirit of discernment.

Michael, I'm sure you already have some thoughts on how a child of God knows the true from the false but here are a couple of ways I tell...
1) feelings: by the way I feel inside...is there a peace? Do I feel the presence of God?
2) the word of God: does it line up with the word of God? What would Jesus do?
3) dreams: I don't look for some hidden meaning in every dream that I have but there have been a few dreams and a couple of visions I know were of God because they came to pass.

Re: FEAR FACTOR: Pentecostal/Apostolic Style
What does the Bible say?
1 Jn. 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
Pretty clear to me. I wonder if this is how most people discern. This says nothing about feelings, peace or dreams...although I certainly believe that God uses those.

I haven't been in a lot of Church's outside of the UPC so I can not speak to a lot of that.
I do know there is a real & there is a counterfeit.
Satan has been said by Jesus that he could deceive the elect if it were possible.
We need to try the spirits.
We also need to be like what Bro Stoneking as said in one of his preachings that he could be used of God greatly & yet still not be right with God.
That is sobering for anyone.
