Re: Here's to My Hero's.
My Mom - she raised me on her own after my Preacher dad backslid and left us,
she never re-married, just dedicated her life to God and me. she passed away 4 years ago, I still miss her everyday! A true prayer warrior, when someone said they needed prayer she would immediately drop what she was doing and go to praying until she felt she had touched the throne of God.
My Grandparents (Mom's parents) -they moved in with Mom and I and helped
to raise me, I lost my grandma at 10 yrs and my Grandpa at 14 yrs.
F.V. Shoemake (deceased) - Pastor from the age of 5 - 14.
Jimmy Shoemake - Pastor from the age of 14 - I married and moved away.
Jeff Arnold - I love this man, he rocks!
Bro. Mallory - missionary
Cecil Brackett - first pastor as a child.
Kevin Knudson - The most kind, caring and gentle man; He helped us through a difficult time.

Do you know HS personally?
What has he written? I've never read anything by him....

If we are referencing the same man I do know him personally. Pastors a great church in Columbus, GA but keeps very much to himself.
While I was the editor of the District newsletter I would publish some of his writings. I pressed him to publish but thus far have not been successful. If I can find the old files I will post a couple of the articles.

Re: Here's to My Hero's.
My Heroes:
My parents.
My grandparents.
My oldest sister and her husband
Carroll & Priscilla McGruder
Shirley Shelton, my first teacher, and someone I KNEW cared deeply about my soul.
Jack Sanders, the principal of the Christian school I attended in high school. One of the wisest men I've ever met, and just good through and through.
Nona Freeman
Priscilla McGruder
My current pastor, Keith Townsley
Carl Ballestero
Elijah Brady
Bobby Tidwell
The people who have invested in me (spiritually), or have inspired me the most would be:
My parents & grandparents.
My oldest sister and her husband.
Pastor Townsley

Not the same man, and I don't think EA is referring to the same man, either. (But I could be wrong)

Brother rrford, I know the man you are speaking about, and you are right, he is a great writer. But the HS I mentioned is actually a relative of MissBrattified.
It would be great if you could post those articles.

Speaking of the HS you and I referred to...what I LOVE most about him is his prayer life. Whether he is here or at home, he stops whatever he's doing at the same time every day and goes to pray. When he was here visiting, my kids were in the room with him, and he just prayed right there with them in the bedroom. I'm sure that will make a very positive impact on them later, if not now. And it's not a showy sort of thing--he's just consistent and makes it top priority.
