That may be so but I will tell you something that did happen. I was in a service several years back and a UPC preacher had been preaching and during the call to pray afterwards he said to a young person he was praying for, "listen to me and repeat what I say". I was shocked, I went to our pastor afterwards and told him what I had heard. He was not shocked, said someone else had already told him about it. Good thing it was the last night he was to be there because I believe he would have been asked to leave. He never preached there again.

I heard this one UPC preacher preach once and he was wearing one of those big ol' fat ties from the 1970's; and this was the late 1980's.

UPC has a lot of problems.

When I was a kid I visited this "charismatic" type church where a couple of guys tried to get me to speak in tongues as we prayed. I couldn't do it. "Close your mind to your own thoughts and just let it out..." they said. I tried, but nothing came out. I felt rather foolish.

I bet they'd do what Jesus did when he went to the temple and threw the money-changers out. Peter and Paul would probably throw out the whole bunch on the platform, upset all the tables selling what-nots, and then preach repent... repent... repent... to any who were left...

I have purposed that I will never go again since they have started charging a door fee. At every G.C. I would usually end up giving and spending anywhere from three hundred dollars to a thousand...even more on one or two occassions.

Peter, Paul and I would not be paying at the door or anywhere else for the show.

I just read this and thought, what?

300 to 1,000? And your complaining?

My budget this year for PAW Convention in New Orleans this year is going to be upwords of 2,000. And no I'm not factoring in my extra vacation plans. Maybe I should consider switching over to UPC General Conference instead.
