It appears, so far, to be mostly the women folk who are "hard wired" to sleep late.
Nope. I can't sleep late anymore because I have 3-year-old, but it is my natural tendency to stay up late and sleep late. Now I stay up late, get up early and not get enough sleep. Fun.

Jeff likes to stay up late--he gets a lot of work done late at night, when it's quiet.
He stays up late, even when he has to get up early, which probably explains his morning grouchiness.

no idea, my internal clock wakes me every day, saturday sunday and holidays within 5 minutes of 5:10 am. Doesn't matter if I go to bed at 9:00 or 11:00. at 5:10 I am awake aware and can't go back to sleep.
My daughter, left alone will sleep until 2:00 pm even if she went to bed at midnight. Weird
I wish I knew. My 16 year old is one of those people.
I'm one of those people as well.
Got to sleep at 2 am last night. Of course I am up earlier this morning trying to tackle a computer problem (and the company related to it -Adobe).
Normally it works out well because neither I nor my wife are early people. We both having waking up and being out the door in 20 minutes on a work day, down to a science.

I have 4, and get them out the door alone. In 20 to 30 minutes. I don't do mornings well either. I'm totally a night owl.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message
Jeffrey didn't sleep through the night until he was nearly 2! He would sometimes go to bed early, but then wake up around 11 or 12, and stay awake for 2-3 hours before going back to sleep.
I hate to admit it, but he would often end up sleeping with us, because otherwise we got zero sleep! His doctor claimed being in the NICU messed up his inner clock. I don't know if that's true, but we were all miserable for quite some time.

My husband sets his alarm for an hour and a half earlier than he has to leave for work.
I had a temporary job where I had to leave at 4:15 a.m. I set my alarm for 4:00 and was out of the house on time.
I am a morning person...I really little sleep little...go to bed late and get up early...I think different people are wired different ways! I can run with the morning crowd and the night crowd too! My mother was like that...
Brother Alvear usually goes to bed before I do and gets up long after I do. His body requires more sleep.
So we are all different creatures with different needs...
