"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: National Youth Congress Nashville Aug 5-7

There are 12 from our church going. They have been working so hard together
with projects to earn their money to go to Youth Congress. One precious little
elderly sister, seeing how hard they were working, donated 1,000.00. She loves
and loves on our youth. She is so faithful, has been here and watched some of
these kids grow up and she encourges them. She is 89! Still investing in the
future of the church.
Her daugher, recently prayed back through after being
away from God for many years.

GOD Bless the 2009 Youth Congress and watch over every young person and
the adult chaparons attending with them. God bless eveyone coming and going,
in JESUS NAME!

I have been thinking about doing the same although I am a bit over the age limit! I was hoping if some AFFers were going to be there maybe we could all meetfor a cup of coffee. I have a feeling that unless they are going as chaperones most of our AFF friends would have children going rather than themselves.

Of course the ultra cons aren't going to let their kids get near those evil big video screen and they willl have gone to the PEAK conference a little while ago.

Four of our handsome grandsons are going. The Youth pastor and wife, and
another couple who have a son going. We have some wonderful young people
who are dedicated and consecrated to God. Not just when they go some-
where else. It began at home!

Falla39,

Sounds like you have a great group going. I hope they have a great time. I remember as a teenager going to the very first National Youth Congress. I beleive it was held in Memphis. I had a great time. That would have been the late 1970's.
