Re: National Youth Congress Nashville Aug 5-7
I've been keeping up with this website- http://youthcongresslive.blogspot.com/ and from their updates, it seems as if it was a pretty solid conference.

Would all the critical spirits sit down, and shut up!!!!!! Or take it to another thread. Let's rejoice that young people are being blessed and will be blessings to others.

Seriously? Respectfully raising a legitimate part of my past that I struggle with is a "critical spirit"? Wow. Is there no room for dialogue that constructively creates opportunities for honest conversation? Do you think there were any of the 17,000 kids that struggle with the same questions? In reality, I'm creating an opportunity for you to explain such struggles to those who have the same questions I did. If you arm them with answers that I never received, maybe they won't leave like I did. Maybe I'm presenting you with an opportunity for you to retain hundreds of them that will inevitably leave when their lifetime of doubts aren't resolved.
Of course, there's always the, "Do it because I said so", but that doesn't seem to work so well.

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with YOUTH CONGRESS!!!!! LOL!!!!! Hannah just got back, and had a great time, and that's really all I care about.

Do you really think organized sports are a problem anymore? I know countless kids and 20-somethings who are currently involved in organized sports. My daughters included. If there's a manual rule, it is patently and broadly ignored.

I have no problem discussing your past with you. I do know the conflict the UPCI caused in kids growing up as far as sports, dancing, etc. Some handled it well, others didn't. I just don't think this is the thread to do it on. Maybe you could start a thread to discuss it on.

I don't think it is now as much as it was when I was growing up. Back then it was really not allowed. I was a tomboy and I was pretty good at softball, but I only played in the neighborhood. I am sure there were Pentecostal kids that were good enough to play college and even pro, but were not allowed to find out. I am glad things are changing.

Re: National Youth Congress Nashville Aug 5-7
Too often we send our youth to these events to catch on fire and when we bring them back, we are unable to sustain momentum. I encourage every person who knows a kid who went to this event to encourage them to transform themselves from being on fire to being in the fire. Create an atmosphere where the momentum will take the kids to a closer walk with God and a deeper understanding of His purpose for our lives.
