Since you are pressing the issue of punishment with me, I would say there are consequences to our actions. If my child does something I said not to do, I would not use the word punish, but discipline. Discipline is supposed to train people, it has a purpose. I think of punishment as just making someone feel bad.

Gotta fix that last sentence... I think when people want to punish someone it is to make the person that did something to feel bad so that the person punishing can feel good. ;-)

What about the abductors wife!? She just stood by for 18 yrs watching this happen. I am so glad that she will be facing charges as well.
I just don't think they deserve any kind of trial, they should just be sent to prison for the rest of their lives period.

Don't worry, they always have individuals like yourself waiting in the wings to insure that these people have a defence.

Why we punish determines to a large extent how we punish. So how we answer those questions are important.
