I really wanted to read all of this thread and get caught up on it before posting a comment but after reading 15 pages realized that I was still just on the posts made about 10 am this morning!
Since it is bedtime I will only make a couple of comments;
1. I am pleased to report that a few years ago I started parting my hair on the side again when I part it so it is clear I embrace holiness.
1. For some months now I have not worn my wedding ring so clearly one more sign I am holy. (I konw what those of you who know me are thinking - he stopped wearing it because his fingers got so fat it didn't fit any more. That may be true but who can argue that the result is holiness???)
There have been great posts on the first 15 pages I have read and I would particularly like to compliment that Bratty woman and Edward Anglin for theirs.
Last but not least I wish the "I do declar we are holy" website would list the signees alphabetically so it would be easy to see if certain UPC preachers have signed it. For example has Pastor Hennigan from Plano? How about Anthony Mangun? Rex Johnson?

Titus2woman on AFF
"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"
Of course he wouldn't address it, because deep down he knows they're wrong on Deut 22:5. Any true minister who studies the Word knows that Deut 22:5 does NOT deal with pants on women.
Could you perhaps enlighten me on what it is referring to?
What does it means when it says a woman should not put on that which pertains to a man?
I'd really like to know.

It means trying to look like a man, as in being gay! Same for the man dressing like a woman. Same scripture.

First you have to think about the fact that when the verse was written, men didn't wear pants. Both sexes wore robes. So men and women both wearing the same type of outer garment could not in itself be a sin. It's only in the past several hundred years that men have worn pants. (there's an interesting history of pants that someone posted here recently, can't remember which thread)
In my opinion, this passage is really referring to deliberately attempting to pass yourself off as the opposite sex.

Yeah, what Esther said.
I'm not sure why people interpret that scripture to mean only what women wear from the waist down. Surely it would mean shirts too, if it was referring to specific attire, correct? So does that mean women shouldn't wear shirts that button because men wear them with suits? No collars either, since men have those for their ties?
Pants doesn't make a woman appear to be a man anymore than the men's shoes I wear make me appear to be a man.
There is no sin in wearing the other gender's attire. The sin is in appearing to be the other gender. That's what the word 'wear' in that verse is saying....not the mere act of putting it on.

According to what was posted, men have only been wearing long pants for about 225 years! LOL! Before that, their knees were showing!

Thank God for long pants!
Culture changed, and men started wearing pants. Then culture changed again, and women started wearing pants. Clothing styles have changed continually over the years. There's nothing in Deut. 22 that prohibits a certain type of clothing.

Amen! Especially now that it's colder out! I was freezing last night!
And my furnace isn't working. Just moved in a couple weeks ago, so they are sending someone out today or tomorrow. Should be 70 today......maybe. Only 61 right now.
Maybe I'll look for my space heater.....
