What's going on is of most interest to me! One point of interest: I was in UPC for over twenty-five years - never heard of "magic hair" (too wierd for me). Comparing our old church to some I've read about here, it is still pretty liberal! Left UPC for non-denominational church because UPC "regulations" just didn't add up and my husband and I couldn't support that anymore. We're part of Love and Truth family now, and so far, so good!!!

I'm at a point in my life that I don't care anymore what some preacher thinks of me for questioning things. AFF gives me a place where I can read and express these issues. It has been sort of therapeutic for me!
Ditto.

Re: How influential is AFF?

After being away from the UPC for over 25 years, Faithchild drew my attention because Jim created a place where UPCer and ex-UPCers could have open discussion. This has been very healthy for folks. AFF is carrying that tradition on, and I believe we are all the better for it.

Thanks, to all owners and administration both past and present.

Re: How influential is AFF?

I've been here for a few years and I do think AFF is influential. To what degree still remains to be seen. I think it depends upon where an individual is. I have had numerous contacts from folks both by phone and by email & PM just wanting to talk to someone who has been where they are. If someone wants to know what is happening the UPCI, this is the place to be. Everything is discussed here and officials have a hard time hiding things anymore. Personally, I believe in full disclosure when it comes to church things unless it would harm individuals.

AFF matters and one proof is those who have left over the years. Many, not all, couldn't handle the diversity and freedom to question the "sacred cows" of apostolica. Don't like to see people leave, but they're adults and can make their own decisions. I would rate AFF - "PG." It's adult discussion on a wide range of topics. It's certainly not anything goes, but you'll find more freedom here than in many places and that is on purpose. You can get banned from here, but you almost have to really want it. We delete threads and posts from time to time when it seems like the right thing to do.

Viva la FREEDOM!

Re: How influential is AFF?

I am very thankful for AFF, FCF etc. because it really helped me sort out things for myself here a few years ago. It is definately influential in the grass roots sense. Hard to say if it is otherwise, but grass roots is where the people are and, in the long run, the people are the movement.

I love this place! Yes, there have been some challenging discussions some of which have challenged even some of my own misconceptions. I have been humbled by the many posters who have shared not only spiritual insights, but plain ole' logic.

Re: How influential is AFF?

I was taught by a former pastor, that one must know what they believe and why they believe it,and FCF and the forums that followed have often times challenged me to make sure of what I believe and why I believe it,more than once I have been provoked to go back into the word,to make sure I could defend my views with scripture.

Re: How influential is AFF?

AFF is the most influential media outlet in the Apostolic Pentecostal realm, by far.

Even those who supposedly hate the site visit it frequently.
