My MIL was a food hoarder for many years. Going to her pantry was like going on a treasure hunt... she would shop at the canned food outlet and get great deals, but who knew there was raspberry flavored tuna?

Tortilla chips
cheese (both block and shredded)
Salsa
sour cream

Chili
Hot Dogs
French Fries (in the freezer)
It is quite ironic, because I am a pretty good cook, and we rarely resort to chili dogs for dinner, but the hubby and kids always know that are there...
So what can be counted on to be in your fridge, freezer, or pantry?

I can identify with that.
My list was based on what you can't live without ----I didn't include the pantry since this has all of my "bargains". Suffice it to say that due to the quantity of canned goods and only 2 in the household .....it would be possible to "forget" things.
I keep a permanent marker on the shelf. I date every can or box.
It's necessary to avoid waste. I do my best to rotate, but this keeps things in line.
