I remember doing the same with other girls at camp. There were day services and we'd look for other entertainment.
And, yes we found some interesting scenarios !

I've GOT to find in my old keepsakes where my fiance wrote a whole love letter using titles (page numbers in the song book)! It was pretty interesting!

Nah, if you have gas, run the aisles, thinking in your head:
Give me gas in my Ford, keep me trucking....
Just toot around them aisles-then no one will know who done it!

Re: As a child, "What did it sound like to you?"
In the old song "Come and dine" it's supposed to be "He who fed the multitudes", but I always sang "He who fed the mustard to 'em".

Re: As a child, "What did it sound like to you?"
I didn't grow up Apostolic-I think I missed most of the good ones!! In the church I was raised in most of the songs were slow enough that no one could miss the words, for sure!!
Some people got pretty mad at me in choir-I was singing "Jesus, build a fence." Apparently, its "Jesus be a Fence." And when they corrected me I had the audacity to say my version made more sense!

My favorite one is a new convert years ago who couldn't figure out why we were singing, "Have a little chocolate Jesus"... "Have a little TALK WITH JESUS!!!!!"
