My husband and my son's girlfriend both gave me an Amarylis for Christmas. One is red and the other is white. I can plant the bulbs outside if I want to. I'm going to check them out and see how to manipulate the blooms growth before I do anything with them.

Good choice. We are thinking of adding a palm tree to our tropical yard this spring. I'm looking around at what type I want. I've seen some that grow and are not really pretty. I haven't studied up enough on this to say, exactly, which type it is that I don't like.
