Lou Engle and TheCall 2010
After reading this short AFF thread, and this one too…. I have some questions.
Has anybody been to any recent TheCall rallies? I know there was one in Houston in January, and there is one coming up in Sacramento. I also know that there is a 40-day Daniel Fast happening right now for students on college campuses all over the nation (March 1 thru April 9).
I'm curious about what takes place at the conferences, and also about the theology behind Lou Engle, TheCall, the International House of Prayer (IHOP), etc. Although I was raised Oneness Pentecostal (UPC), I have very little knowledge of or experience with charismatic or "Third Wave" Pentecostalism.
Some people connect IHOP with the Latter Rain movement of the '50s, but IHOP has officially denied any previous ties with the LRM. Some of the IHOP doctrines I'm curious about are: (1) the manifest sons of God theology, (2) Joel's army, (3) the Tabernacle of David, etc. See this link.
Please enlighten me! I want to know more!

As I have only eaten at IHOP through the years I will be unable to help you but I am sure somebody in the AFF family has the answers.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

They have a great sampler. Chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings, dipped in tons of ranch. And they have great, Hidden Valley ranch!!
The pancakes suck, however.

Re: Lou Engle and TheCall 2010
I've been loosely involved with this movement through Peter Wagner, Mike Bickle, Rick Joyner, Paul Cain.
I'm not familiar with the specific doctrines you mentioned, but I think there is a "Kingdom Now" philosophy which is kind of a foundation for what they do. I've not personally seen any bad fruit from their efforts and quite the contrary in the lives of people who have been to the IHOP. Actually, there is an IHOP near me in Cleveland. I haven't been there, but I know folks who have and they have been blessed.

Re: Lou Engle and TheCall 2010
IHOP is a Charismatic Church. They are Trinitarian as to God. Tho I am firmly Oneness I have a lot of respect for them. They teach the sermon on the mount. They teach the post trib rapture. They teach the fear of God. They believe in personal holiness. They have been blessed with some of the most anointed worship leaders ever.
I have been watching their revival meetings for several months now. I am amazed that NONE of the leaders of the so called "Latter Rain" movements have been in attendance there. I hope that does not change in the sense it could do damage to the IHOP group itself.
I have personally seen them baptize thus:
In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost I baptize you into the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
