My Pastor addressed the differences between churches, regions, and even parts of the world when it comes to standards (though he didn't use that word exactly) and how they are applied.

When he addressed it, he summed it up by saying there may indeed be differences, but there are some things that everyone can agree on.

After all, the Biblical concept for standards and such would be "perfecting holiness".

I mentioned what I mentioned because, honestly, the issue is wrenching me on the inside.

I know how I was raised.

I know what my church believes.

I know I've experienced God at many times, in mighty ways, at my church in the past and even now.

I know I don't agree with my church, my Pastor, or classical 20th century "Apostolic" teaching concerning the subject of salvation and speaking in tongues.

This issue bothers me, so I usually don't think much about it anymore and have made up my mind that it is in my best interest spiritually to stay where I am.

There are times of terrible confliction.

There are times of joy and peace-- usually while I am church, during the services and the sermons.

However, the questions persist and I know how I stand personally.

As I have stated, I am staying right where I am.

It is good to stay where we are if we are in the right place but God help your poor sole if you aren't. You'd better be sure.

So many on here once had a walk with God but have drifted so far away that now anything goes and they believe they are still on track. God has let them believe a lie and they will be dammed.

This kind of statement is the very reason Forums such as these thrive.

If in fact this is what was said, the UPCI will continue to dig its own grave.

What I've noticed, men that say these things get away with it, while those who question the statement are reprimanded and deemed contentious for questioning authority.

Could you be more specific?

My feeling is, your statement is generalized, leaving the door wide open to conclude what is "Sure".

What do you believe is "Sure"? Can my "Sure" be different than yours?

Is cut hair on women, beards on men, and Christian rock music your idea of being out of the Way with a false brand of "Sure"?

I have noticed a common denominator of men and women who take a rigid stand on God; they have a hard time getting into the specifics with those who've done their homework or research.

Don't forget, the poor souls on here include you.
