In Missouri they may dismiss on major holiday weekend evenings so family's can get together. I miss being in church Sunday evenings when we don't have them. Problem is people spend much more time in front of the TV and computer than they do in the house of God.
So, we should all strive to be in the church house more than we are infront of the computer or tv?

I think there can be so much church during a week that it can church many people to death. Out of a 7 day week there are 168 hours. Most people work 40+ hours a week. That brings our total down to 128. I would estimate most people sleep about 50 hours a week. (Thats a little over 7 hours per day.) That brings our total down to 78. So where does the rest of our time go? I would estimate about 8 hours a week for driving. That puts us at 70 hours. I would say most people spend around 3 hours getting ready to go to work/church/town per week. That puts us at 67 hours. Most people have lunch breaks and breaks they have to take at work. This totals about 5 hours. So now we are at 62 hours. Most people probably spend 4 hours a week or more on supper (Eating/preparing) the meal. That puts us at 58 hours. Household chores probably take about 4 hours per week. We can add an hour in for yardwork. We can add an hour in for the grocery store. That puts us at 52 hours for the things we want to do.

Now lets assume a person on average will spend about 4 hours a week at church just for going to two services. That brings us to 48 hours. Let's say we watch an hour of tv a night or get on the computer for an hour a night. That brings us to 41 hours a week. (And that's rather minimal tv/internet usage.) Let's assume we spend only 3 hours a week talking on the phone and spending time to parents/friends. (Thats rather minimal time spent with other people.) We are now at 38 hours and thats if everything goes perfectly. Thats quite a bit of time. But lets assume everything don't go perfectly.

We might sleep 56 hrs instead of 50. Thats 32 hours now. We might spend 7 hours a week on supper instead of 4. Now we are at 29. We might work 50 hours a week instead of 40. We are now at 19. We might spend 7 hours a week on household chores/projects instead of 4. Now we are at 16 hours. We might spend 2 hours on yardwork instead of 1. Now we are at 15 hours left over 7 days. Thats about 2 hours a day. (Of course that probably goes for a little extra tv/computer time and a little extra time either on the phone or with family/friends.)

This may sound like alot of computer/tv time. The thing is, most of us are relaxing while doing those things. Church, especially a pentecostal church is not a relaxing type of place...

By all means, don't spend too much of your precious free time living for God especially since he He died on the cross just because He had nothing better to do.

Life without sacrifice is the way to go.

By all means don't waste all your time serving God in a church building.

Re: How many services do you have on Sunday?

We have 1-service, but it is a combined. We have Sunday school for the adults and children at 10:30, then at 11:30 we have regular worship service where everybody is together.

In addition, we drive about 45min. one way to get to the church we attend, so there are many sundays were the drive can get to us. Also, with the combo service we are lucky if we get home Sunday by 2:30 or 3:00 in the afternoon - so with 2-children it is about a 5 1/2 to 6hr day just going to church.

I personally would prefer a 9:00a.m. worship service so the rest of the day could be spent with family and resting. Being involved in the music department is a joy, but it also means that Sunday is also a work day to a degree.
