She was okay with me BEFORE she delved into this stuff. I steer a way from them, generally. I think I'm a normal, healthy, honest person with certain desires and weaknesses like everyone else. I know that if I submit my life to God, I am fine. If I don't, I WILL fulfill the desires of the flesh.
I did not think of it that way,but now that you said it I think you are right . Also it could peak one's interest and then they go looking for what they might be missing { or what all the buzz is about }.

This is where I am not sure of which end of the spectrum we are looking at.

One, we have the bible that is very firm about what God wants from us. Our example in this thread is referring to Job 31:1.

Adam Clarke said this: I am therefore bound not to look upon any thing with a delighted or covetous eye, by which my conscience may be defiled, or my God dishonored.

Are we allowing society to shape us in some ways that we think we are too rigid and we need to loosen up a little? Society and the Bible look at things from totally opposite viewpoints, IMO.

Any thoughts?
I know that statement is out of context, but really - - God wants us to be delighted at the things he's made (not particularly talking about men either) - - so I think it's more about ANYthing that would defile or dishonor God. Looking upon something and delighting isn't doing that.

I think the Bible's instructions are more conservative toward our manner of life then what people try to live and believe.

Do you like the "sensitive" liberal type?

Or the more masculine sort?

Or the ultimate older but wiser, "A mans got to do what a mans got to do!" kind?

Or.... the guy who likes to stand near other peoples trophies hoping the "winning" attitude rubs off on him?

I agree, if that is what we are doing. So, I am delighted at looking at Russell Crowe? LOL!

And... the Bible has given us MUCH in the way of principle, and even recourse ("Flee fornication, run from it," example from Job, etc). In the end, we must not just choose our own lines, but be obedient to the Spirit with the boundaries it points us to.
Maybe we should be silent too, to a degree. My husband has had a couple of discussions with our son. Other than that, what good does it do? You give them the tools and let them go. They will make mistakes. But, a mistake is not the end.

Not so sure their doorsteps aren't already crowded with these characters already. The buzz isn't some distant party.
