My Puppy Is...
a walking, whining urinating machine!
I can't believe how difficult it has been to house train this dog!
She is supposed to be smart too-- whatever!
Just venting about her. I love her, but man she is more than a handful and that whining that gets under my skin.
I wish she would just bark already!

Let it be CLEAR that Jermyn Davidson is SOLID in his PCI view of the Gospel of Christ and the salvation available to all who believe.
What is this?

Takes time .... took us about a year to fully house train our mini Dachshund, Princess ... and she's as smart as a blonde diva....
She does wee in th kennel from time to time ....
And has had maybe 3-5 accidents since the year mark ....
She'll be two in November. Spoiled brat.
Patience.

Re: My Puppy Is...
My son is going Saturday to Arkansas to pick up a Shiba Inu from a breeder to take to college with him this year, since he has a house all to himself. I had never heard of such a dog, but she is really pretty - some Japanese breed. Her parents are both "show" dogs, so she should be good stock, I guess.

Re: My Puppy Is...
Jermyn, look up all the information you can find on CRATE TRAINING a dog and then do it. Seriously! We got a book that told us how to do it before we got Indie. I stuck to it to the letter and within 3 days he was completely potty trained. Even after he was trained tho, we still had to stay with the program because they learn a whole lot more from the experience than just potty training. As a result, Indie is by far the best dog I have ever owned. I swear by the crate training method and will never train another dog any other way.

Re: My Puppy Is...
I don't want to rub it in too much, but the little monster in the box here (puppy Hermes on the night we brought him home) was already house broken -and he was exactly 8 weeks and 1 day. OK, he did have a few accidents over the next couple of months since young dogs are simply incapable of holding it that long but he knew the proper place to go, outside.
My wife actually thought this box would hold him. We took the pic a minute or two after putting him in and he was out seconds after it was snapped. One effortless leap.

I am attempting to crate train her now.
Problem is, I didn't start her out this way and so now I wonder if I am just distressing and confusing the poor girl.
