Re: New Bar at Gound Zero

And New Yorkers have every right to be curious about this project, especially.

The mosque’s leader, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, claims to seek “interfaith understanding” — but just how “moderate” is it to launch a project he knows will inflame passions? Plus, he reportedly has ties to radical Islamists and refuses to label Hamas a terrorist group.

LOL!
Forked tongue? No, I can just listen to the audio actually being said, and read the words that are actually on the page without inferring my own prejudices, fear and anger. It must be my gift, lol.

Again, how did he lie in that video?

Re: New Bar at Gound Zero

The imam behind a proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea this week. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website. Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday.

Well, it appears our local NYC Firefighter didn't believe him either.

And exactly what are his ties to radical Islamists? I know, I know, actual evidence is almost too much to ask for, but do try.

As far as him not labeling Hamas a terrorist group, here is his actual statement:

"Asked if he agreed with the State Department's assessment, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf told WABC radio, "Look, I'm not a politician.
"The issue of terrorism is a very complex question," he told interviewer Aaron Klein.
"There was an attempt in the '90s to have the UN define what terrorism is and say who was a terrorist. There was no ability to get agreement on that."
Asked again for his opinion on Hamas, an exasperated Rauf wouldn't budge.
"I am a peace builder. I will not allow anybody to put me in a position where I am seen by any party in the world as an adversary or as an enemy," Rauf said, insisting that he wants to see peace in Israel between Jews and Arabs."

Wow, when you actually read what he is saying, it is clear that he is simply trying not to alienate anyone from his mission of interfaith building. I know, that doesn't scare people as much as "Rauf supports terrorism!", but he raises a valid point.

Seriously, you are stretching this a lot.

So? You don't believe him because a NYC firefighter does not believe him?

I am still waiting to find out how he lied in that video. Of course, that would mean there is evidence of that, which I know there is not.

A long wait I am in for I see, hmmm.

He pushed "twice", in the video, that his money/funding was coming from here, TWISP. He then goes over seas and says his finding will also come from the Middle East. He wasn't being honest in the video, but since you are for him, even when the Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website, states that he is a key figure, well what can I say?

It's because he refuses to denounce them. If they are wrong, he should say so. He doesn't want to and that is suspect. You can throw your daisies around and jump in the grass, if you want, but we can see what he is about.

We won't be able to do anything about it, because he does have a right, under our Constitution, to build his mosque. Even in poor taste, he will build it and we will give more toward appeasement.

He answered it the first time he was asked:

"As far as the funding, it is coming from our communities."

Maybe your narrow constrict of the word means just your immediate geographical community, but using the term "our communities" gives broad latitude to include any and all Muslim communities, both here and abroad. Nothing deceptive about that.

I am not for or against him. I had not even heard of him until a few days ago.

I simply do not like prejudice. I do not like people spreading falsehoods and deceptions about issues to try and scare other people. It is a low form of discourse, and honest people, much less proclaimed Christians, should not partake in it. Either have hard evidence to back up claims, or don't claim them.

Yes, he does sidestep the obvious answer to denounce them, but I can see where he is coming from. He is straddling two worlds, and wants to be a peace maker between them.
