This is so typical of what is happening to the "modern" church.
It's heading for hell in a hand basket faster than a ball bearing on a greased plank.
Could you imagine Jesus or the Apostles Peter or Paul preaching from something like that? or using an iPad? or using Power Point? or using anything but a King James Bible, specifically the Thompson Chain edition with Oneness insert available from the PPH?
Nah, if that huge oak pulpit that dominated center platform was good enough for Jesus and the Apostles it should be good enough for us who re-discovered their message in 1913 and codified it in the Manual.
Remove not the ancient landmarks!!!
"Return to me and my old time ways, my people, and save yourselves from the emergent church," saith the Lord.
Halleluyer!!!! gasp! pant! Glooooory ta God!!! spit! sweat and snot!!!!!!

I see the makings of a General Conference message in your post!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"
I don't like it... An ipad right above your Bible seems like it would be distracting to me... But maybe I'm just judging by the way I'm easily distracted myself and not giving today's preacher's enough credit. lol

I dunno, why not just go whole hog and get the TelePrompTer put in and just skip the Bible and the iPad? If it's good enough for the President and every newsreader on every TV network, it's good enough for your preacher, no?

Just do away with pulpits and have them stand in front of teleprompter 'monitors'?
Seriously though, I haven't been in any church services in about 10 years except for a small Methodist church that I went to with my in-laws for some special events. Are ipad's, laptops, etc. on the pulpit becoming a common thing? I work for a software company and am married to a computer programmer so I have no problem with technology, but using a computer while preaching just seems... weird. To me. lol
