Actually the number would be 3,000 v 10,000 yet not exactly. Assuming that at least some among the 10,000 were also among the camp that had never spoke with tongues and did not that night. I find it hard to believe that everyone that had never spoke in tongues joined the party that night.
1,000 ministers + 2700 altar workers so for evey 2 tongue talkers in the crowed there was 1 tongue talker who became a tongue talker that night.
I say that's a stretch even for Texas.

Re: News Bulletin from the General Superintendent
Well, I for one, want to go on record and say that I'm thankful for the report from General Conference. Even if the numbers are inflated, there were still lots of people baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. For that, I'm grateful!
I don't believe it was the biggest outpouring in the history of America, but I do believe they had a great outpouring. Wherever God shows up, I'm thankful!

God saving people is always a good thing, but men deliberately twisting and contorting to make themselves look better that bothers me.

Are you crying for quality control inspectors and certification of results?
When the Holy Ghost moves, we expect negativity and nay sayers. It wouldn't be an authentic Acts without Mockers

Looks like the legalists place limits and restrictions on a sovereign move of God.

You can get over this.
It bothers you. We can't have this going on without it happening your way.
A burden for the lost bothers me.
God will save men and do so without the approval of some people.

What is the likelihood that some people simply misunderstood what was really being asked? Someone who wasn't used to Pentecostal terminology might get the Holy Ghost one night and then the next night speak in tongues again, but answer that they just got the Holy Ghost both nights, for instance.
Also, although "refillings" were counted separately, some churches ask if anyone got renewed and everyone that spoke in tongues-whether it had been years or hours since the last time they spoke in tongues-is supposed to raise their hands. So there could have been some who were confused by differences in terminology between churches.
And at least part of the 3600 was kids or youth whose parents brought them.

True, but God will deal with them if that's the case. We don't have to.

Frank Sinatra sang, "I Did It My Way", and Elvis did a great cover of the same song.
