Re: How Much is Too Much
Hey, Hoovie, can you see what I'm wearing?
And another thing Admins, why don't you make it a rule that everyone has to read their post before they submit it? I'm convinced that some never look back at what they have said and much of their post is posted faster than their brain can kick in! (This is probably a good example of what I'm trying to say! )

And just to show balance we'll extend it to haircuts as well.

It's ok, Smithy, he used to call me a headbanger all the time. Hoovie just projects. I think he may have a lot of pent-up frustration. I think he wished he were a cool-haired headbanger.

Re: How Much is Too Much
Smithy and NOW, One of the VERY FEW fond memories I have of your "kind" of headbanger music was Jammin to Starship in a horse drawn buggy. No one could ever figure out why old Charlie (my friend's horse) couldn't keep a steady, decent pace... He always wanted to break into a gallop (not a good buggy gait)!!

Okay - - that's how he feels and you know it. Do I agree with it - nope, but I could talk until I'm blue in the face and he'll never change his mind. So, I respect him and he always showed me respect.

So...
I went back and reflected on the subject of this thread and what is liked and disliked here on the forum. And, there is something I don't understand.
Tell me.....why is it that people like Steve Epley can say some of the most outrageous things in the history of Christianity....and I'll list two:
1) "I'd rather my children be alcoholics and drug addicts than be baptized in the titles";
2) "All trinitarians are going to hell";
3) Heck, let's do three...."A man can go to heaven with a beard but not from my church."
4) And of course, his bigotry statements, "Lost as two.......". I can't bring myself to type the rest of it.
....and yet everyone wants him and his type, back? But meanwhile, guys like DA (The UPC critic and grace fanatic), me (The seeker-sensitive, no-tongues, Pelosi-protector-guy), Timmy (the agnostic), and WalksinIslam (The Muslim), are the bad guys that supposedly have hurt the forum? Sorry, but I don't understand that.
I mean, we're able to work with all kinds, and for the record, I'd LOVE to see Epley & Company back. They're fun to talk to, and sometimes laugh at, and they create a fuss and fusses are good for forums, in general. But them?? They can't deal with anyone except their own kind, for the most part.
I know people get irritated at Timmy but you gotta give the guy credit...he walks into an Apostolic forum, doesn't believe in God's personal touch with mankind, and he takes us ALL on!! What could be wrong with a guy like that? And then we go to our yearly soul-winning service, shed a tear about the lost, and then here's Timmy and a Muslim walking right among us and what do we want to do? Get their butts outta here!!!
And if I'm so messed up in my views on tongues and being Spirit-filled without them, and doing secular rock music in church, and wearing shredded jeans to preach in, and defending Nancy Pelosi against Christian hate-speech and mockery, then straighten me out!
And if DA is so wrong in his so-called "attacks" on the UPC, then answer his questions and defend the organization's honor. When he goes after a UPC pastor with a TV program, who yearly signs an affirmation statement swearing he won't watch TV, then find a way tell Dan where he's wrong.
These seem to be simple concepts, but somehow, we're the bad guys. I suppose I don't understand that.

I believe it's possible, maybe even likely, that the "Cons" who've left, did so because they couldn't defend their position. However, they're gone and it's blamed on the naysayers. Those that remain are very unhappy and even several that are not at all "Cons" are getting antsy.
So two questions:
1) How much is too much?
2) Who, on the forum, would you like to see gone?

Personally, I believe the conservatives should stay and continue the discussion. Many of them have wonderful insights. However, I think that the issue is that most of them couldn't uphold ALL of their positions biblically. So they left.
