What is forsaking the world? If not forsaking the image of it, actions of it, tastes of it? Jewelry isn't the only thing advised against. Although this thread is about jewelry, we could rightly talk about tobacco, drunkenness, idolatry, lust, etc. What stems from the desire to wear jewelry in a lady? You tell me, what emotion is it? Why do we put so much emphasis on the outward? Its the heart of the matter that is the issue, not the gold.
I honestly think you are missing the boat by dropping the spirit of Paul's teaching because people tend to emphasize the outward. Its really about the inward, the heart. He spirit of Paul's teaching includes the outward but not because the outward is inherently wrong, but because of how the outward affects the inward.

I can tell you why I like jewelry. I like pretty, shiny things. Though I only wear my wedding set, I just like it because it's pretty. I prefer white gold or silver. I don't like pearls or gold very much at all. I am who I am jewelry or not. Typical human being.

We all are Cindy. Thats why the HG helps us to please God in the way He desires. If we try to do it ourselves, we will either fail or become a Pharisee. However through the HG our desires can be molded to His!

For about the 10th time now, I'll point out that you folks can certainly come off as abrasive [i.e., MissBrattified's "Let's get this straight"!], but when I return the favor, I'm the bad guy??
See thyself.................

How typical of the Mike dug-out! I've already told you that your assertion about Ezek. 16 exclusively referring to a woman is absurd. It was a metaphorical reference to Israel as God's Bride, but Israel did not exist exclusively as a woman! Or, are you suggesting that Israel didn't have any men in it ??
I also pointed out to you that "there is neither male nor female" in Christ in salvifical matters. YOU are the one who totally ignored my rebuttals...then, as usual, scream "He didn't answer me!"
Tooooo funny................ !

Yea'...I know it, but even in your dialogue w/ Mike he's made some pretty disparaging remarks, but hey, it's all fine & dandy for him to have a "condemning spirit" !
They do not bother me at all....I pray they repent of their flagrant disobedience to Scriptural instructions to the NT church....honestly.
