By "debate" I don't mean formal debate, these guys run from that as fast as they can, I mean real discussion. Everytime the heat turns up these guys get out of the kitchen. 76. would you be willing defend the position that tongues are the initial evidence, and that without which one cannot be saved? Would you be willing to defend that everyone in church history not having the name of Jesus specifically invoked over them is lost? Would you be willing to defend the doctrine a womean who trims her hair or wears a pair of jeans is eternally doomed to a burning hell? That is what many of those men believe, they don't have good scriputre (out of context pot shotting doesn't count), they are enemies of context, and their doctrine only stands when preached in an amen corner.
As for civility, thats such a joke, not that we shouldn't be civli, but these guys whine over essentially two posters, DA and NOW, while having their own Epley's Benincasa's, RK Smith's, etc. In fact it is often times they who hide on a secret forum GOSSIPING about those on this forum, and even those who attend churches.
Does it matter to me? In a sense NO because I know their doctrine cannot stand up to scrutiny, been there done that. In another sense, YES because they pound the pulpit using both fear and legalism to subject the sheep to abuse. Not all of them, there are some good men on there, but ehre are also some who are nothing more than modern day pharisees, and it is they who scream "compromiser, reborobate, charismatic" the loudest.
