Will Israel Attack Iran Before November?
I've heard and read on several occasions the speculation that Israel may attack Iran before November. The reasons are:
1. Should Obama get reelected, he will not be supportive of such an attack. He will want to continue to use diplomacy and sanctions and the UN to deal with Iran. Israel feels this hasn't worked to stop Iran from moving forward so waiting until after the election is too risky.
2. If they attack before November, Obama will have to be careful not to appear antagonistic against Israel because the race is tight and he needs all the support he can get. He cannot afford to alienate the Jewish vote of which he got about 60-70% of in 2008 I believe. There are large numbers of Jewish voters in Florida an almost must win state for either Obama or Romney. Many liberal Democrat Jews are big supporters of the Jewish state, so Obama would have to approach Israel's attack gingerly.
3. The recent attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria has been ardently linked by Israel to Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Israeli PM Netanyahu said yesterday that terrorism cannot be rewarded, so a response from Israel is absolutely necessary.
I believe it's going to happen. I'm sure they already have their plan drawn up. They are just waiting for the right time. When they attack it will not only be to knock out the nuclear capabilities, it will also be to cripple their military and their ability to respond.
This is going to be a major event. Of course, something could happen to alter it like a coup in Iran or faced with imminent attack, Irans leaders to save face and their own skin might yield and make concessions that satisfy Israel and the International Community.
I am in favor of Osrael doing whatever it takes to defend itself. The leaders of Iran are evil, fanatical extremists who believe they are called to destroy Israel and conquer the world with their radical form of Islam. Netanyahu and Israel's leaders seem to be the only world leaders that have a backbone in relation to Iran. Our president and the UN are fooling themselves into appeasement mode.
