Gone Charismatic, ex-pentecostal
This is the term, sometimes with utter contempt, for anyone that used to believe exactly to the last jot and tittle that some Ultra Con believed. I read this term being used recently in refernece to T.F Tenny and his wife being associated with their son, of all things. Tommy has gone charismatic and appearently his parents are going charismatic.
It's sad how this term has morphed over the years to mean something entirely different than what it was intended. Apostolics have taken this word and assigned a totally different meaning to it to mean "they left us" or "They don't believe in standards like we do".
A Charismatic was simply someone that did believe in the Charismatic gifts, but did not believe tongues was the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost
Where as a Pentecostal was some that believed in the gifts but that the baptism of the Holy Ghost was always evidenced by speaking in tongues as a distinct experience from the gift of tongues.
Assemblies of God, without the standards and baptism in Jesus name are Pentecostal
So an ex-pentecostal is someone that used to believe the above doctrine and now rejects it.
Somone that has gone charismatic has really changed doctrinal views that tongues is just one of the gifts and is not THE evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost
