The wee problem with that is that there are thousands of scriptures which use the masculine gender, but are applicable to both genders. Why pick and choose here? IMO, this argument has far less sticking power than the silence in the church passage.

And the "wee problem" with this post is that I specifically stated that the pronouns are "translated" as masculine pronouns - BECAUSE OF THE SURROUNDING CONTEXT. Did you catch it that time?
