Re: Scott Walkers tithes dilema
The taconite mine in Minnesota destroyed forever the wild rice beds downstream from the mine. The same would have happened here in Wisconsin. The entire watershed of the Bad River Reservation would have been polluted by the mine.
But the tribe does not stand alone. Conservationists rejected the mine. Sportsman rejected it as well. The locals is Ashland and Iron Counties rejected it in every poll.
When the public hearings were held, none were held in the Bad River Watershed. Instead, they were held in Hurley, Milwaukee and Praire Du Chien. Praire du Chien was chosen to discourage protestors from attending. I think it is a 12 hour drive for Ashland residents to attend that meeting for voicing their opinions.
Any governor who is willing to corrupt the first amendment to pass legislation cannot be trusted.
When I contacted my reps in Madison about the mine votes ( there were 3 laws changed) they had never been up north or hand any idea of the impact of the mine. Such ignorance was corrected. But my reps do as they are told and do not vote against the party.
