The tares aren't gathered and burnt, before the wheat is put in the barn. Rather, the tares are gathered into numerous bundles (for the purpose of being burnt). Meanwhile, the wheat is gathered and put in the barn. The burning took place last of all (kind of like in Revelation 20).
