I will admit that this type of teaching did create a fear in many to the point that they would, as a little girl in our church used to say, SQUENCH the Spirit and after enough time of squenching the Spirit it seemed to almost disappear from their worship altogether.
There are some on here who accuse the AMF/ACI brethren of not believing in the operation of the gifts. That is not the reality but to some it is the perception.

I do not believe it is that the AMF itself does not believe in the gifts. I believe if you asked every minister that is part of that fellowship, you would get a unanimous "YES, I do believe in the gifts". I think, just as you spoke about OK, some in the AMF hold the reigns so tight that the gifts are not allowed to operate. I have heard from one minister that this is changing, and for that I rejoice. These are some of the finest men I have known in my life, though I don't know them half as much as I would like.
