what exactly is being brought into line by this kind of extreme retoric?

Balance is nice. I like balance. I just dont know what kind of balance you get from that kind of stuff.

The womens sufferage movenemtn didnt advocate men not voting, to get women the right to vote. they advocated the right of a woman to vote. they said what they meant. being extreme doesnt balance anything. it just brings a different kind of imballance.
I just can't think of your calling our current feminists extreme and their agenda as rhetoric without contrasting it and thinking of our history.

Don't you think they hailed Susan B. Anthony as an 'extremist feminist' in her day? And what kind of treatment do you think she went through on a daily basis?

A bit of History of women's suffrage...

On March 3, 1913, over 5,000 suffragists paraded in Washington, D.C....As the suffragists started down Pennsylvania Avenue, the crowd became abusive and started to close in, knocking the marchers around with hostility. With local police doing little to keep control, the cavalry was called in as 100 women were hospitalized.

Another tidbit of info...

Other territories and states granted women the right to vote in the late 19th and early 20th century, but universal women's suffrage did not come until the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified in 1920.

From what I've been reading some women started on this journey back in the 1700's and it took almost 200 years for this to become universal in the US. It's been less than 90 years since this passed. Then there's the whole feminisit movement from the 60's and 70's. If you think about it...we're awfully new at this whole line of thinking.

I really have no idea what agenda the feminist movement is pushing for nowadays. I've never really been interested or involved. Just what exactly is the current feminists pushing for...and how long do you think it will take for them to become reality?
