Two New Cars In One Week!
No not for me. By sheer coincidence I helped both of my sons car shop one weekend apart and they both now have new cars.
Number one son who is the former Marine (I know, technically Marines are never "former") is now working offshore and has been driving the old family sled (99 Ford Taurus) with 170,000+ miles 600+ miles to and from work every two weeks the last two months. The Taurus has been a good car but the power steering is completely out (you needed Marine training to drive it with no power steering) and the transmission is acting up.
In short he desperately needed new wheels so after he got home Thursday July 10 the very next day we started shopping. He had been thinking about this for some time and decided he wanted a new Ford Fusion. Not just any though. He wanted black and a 5 speed. 98% of these cars are automatics so finding a 5 speed in black was a task.
Finally found one 2 hours away in Cleveland Tennessee and after negotiating by phone and internet made a deal contingent on him driving the car. We got back home 10 pm that night with that shiny new pretty Fusion.
Number two son is a medical courier who has to provide his own transportation. He just spent $1400 on his 98 Prelude for a new timing belt, other work, windshield, hoses ,etc in preperation of selling it for around $5000 to use as the down payment on a new car. The engine blew up and in a minute the car went from a five thousand dollar car to a $1,400 one. This happened while I was in Austin on a business trip so Saturday became an all days car shopping affair.
He had been looking at the Scion XB for a few months and after we checked out about four possible alternatives headed for the Toyota / Scion dealer where he bought a cool new 2009 Scion Xb.
He was aggravated about not having the down payment he had planned on and about being rushed into doing something but every day he has had it he likes it more and more and is glad he got it.
If anybody out there would like to contribute $33,000 to my new car fund I will make my decision between the new Pontiac G8 GT from Australia with the 361 hp engine or the 2009 incredible new Nissan Maxima that looks better than any Lexus or Infiniti.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
