Funny.....I don't see any scripture that shows that teaching. The disciples were pretty smelly fellas, don't you think? Jesus was the same way. Do you think they showered and changed clothes, dressing in their fanciest duds before preaching and healing people?
And yes, WH was saying exactly what I responded to. That girl isn't allowed to go to camp without the 'proper attire' and he wasn't referring to her dressing sloppy. He was referring to her needing to have long sleeved shirts, just as he said the boys have to have as well, or they can't attend.
It's only here in America where such thinking is so broad-spectrum. Go visit any missionary and see if they impose the same rules before allowing people to attend church, campmeetings, or any such like. Find any scripture where Jesus or any of the apostles did the same. I challenge you.
While I don't dress sloppy for church (nor any other occasion unless I'm fishing or gardening), I don't dress to impress God either. Since my righteousness is on the same level as those 'filthy rags', I can't imagine how he sees my 'elegant' and 'proper' attire...in addition to my heart on such matters.
